This Summer is the Summer it all changes . . .

Hello everybody! I just thought I'd make a quickie post today, and save my concert pictures for the next one, since writing up a thoughtful report will take longer than the time I have now.

So I decided this summer is going to be my summer for reform. Let me explain.

I really want to put my health first this summer and change a lot of things around so its better for me. I'm starting by trying to fix my insomnia. Now, I know I'm not a doctor so I can't diagnose myself, but judging from my symptoms and how long I've had them, I'd say this pretty much sums it. I wake up periodically, I can't fall asleep right away, I only sleep a few hours, and I feel groggy and terrible in the morning (also my back feels sore). I'm trying to fix all that I can on my own before talking to the doctor, so I'm doing a bed reform.

I've also purchased a month long rock climbing voucher off of Living Social! Yes for rock climbing and yoga! I convinced one of my friends to buy one too so I have a belay partner! I'm super excited!!

Now, on to random pictures of late:

My first pineapple Chobani. It's SO GOOD. I just ate it walking the streets. I love greek yogurt so of course, no surprise that I'd like this. I highly recommend it!

Vegan chocolate chip cookies my friend Lesley made! They were AMAZING. She baked them for the concert, so I should've saved this picture, but just look at it's delicious baked goodiness!

I got this tea when I was on my lunch break. I would've ordered food except I had some already, so I just got some jasmine tea. I forget how good jasmine tea is . . .

Sorry this picture doesn't look so appetizing since I bit into it, but a chicken pesto panini from a random deli on 23rd. I don't know if I've really had a panini before this one, but they're really filling.

I purchased this recently at the Anna Sui store! All the Look from London tights/socks in the back were half off, so I had to get these. I mean, yellow and polka dots? Très bon!

Finally, I went to the "Biggest Ever Sale" at Urban Outfitters yesterday. They actually do have a bunch of things on sale that were great. I mean, brand new ten-hole Dr. Marten boots for $40 is a pretty good deal. But I got myself a pair of pants since, well, I apparently have way too much funky clothing for work and I'm in need of pants. Cool wash, right? It was on sale for $10~

Now, I gotta get off if I want to go to school before work (ugh, paperwork). I'll see you all later!

I'm feeling pretty good!

Hi everyone! Today (or right now), I'm feeling GREAT! I don't really know what it is, although I have an inkling it's the weather! After a week of downpour, these past 2 days or so have been A-MAZING. I hope it continues, because it would suck going back to school under grey skies.

P.S. Is grey spelled with an "a" in-between, or an "e"? I've seen it both ways . . .

So my camera is back . . .

And I managed to photograph breakfast from a day or so ago? Sadly not the french toast but it was still good!

I believe it is strawberry season. I got a box of these for $0.99 at Chelsea Market! SCORE! I think I seriously need to live there because Food Network AND NY1 is there. I mean, think about it, that's like breathing the same air as Bobby Flay AND Pat Kiernan! (although I am a bigger Alton Brown fan)
Oh, but back to these strawberries, yes . . . they were good. I think I'll go get some more today!

If anyone knows me, they know I carry around tea bags. I recently stocked my little carry around stash . . .

Highly recommended for tea lovers.

Then I've recently been eating this a lot:

I love dried fruits in general, and prunes are delicious! I love them in oatmeal or on its own.

Yesterday I helped my mom clean up our other apartment in Brooklyn (the one we rent out). There was a guy that stayed there for 7 months recently, so we were cleaning it up for the next person that was coming in from Africa (cool beans!)
Anyway, the guy left some goodies in the pantry:

Whole wheat pasta, brown rice, and cooking spray! Haha, you can probably tell I was excited since this kinda food is right up my ally. That, and I find groceries are just the best gifts. EVA.

To keep up with this food trend, I went out to Flushing with my friends on Wednesday and had some food at this place called West (?) Normally I remember names of places, but we were hungry and just chose a random place. The food and service were all pretty average so there's not much to say, however, the pricing was good!
This is my chicken katsu-don.

Lastly, a outfit coordinate from me:

I look really shocked for some reason . . .
-H&M grey (again this word!) Cardigan
-Urban Outfitters graphic t-shirt
-Random jean shorts
-F21 plaid tights
-XOXO boots
-Peace Now Spider Necklace

Oh! And for all you NY-ers out there who may or may not be planning to go to Soho this weekend, from today (April 2nd) to the 4th, Topshop is having a 1 Year Anniversary Celebration!

Basically what's going down is the store, after opening it's doors last year in April, is doing a celebration to commemorate this event. They're having giveaways, photo-ops, cake and tea (yum!), live music (I suspect djs), and if you spend $100, you get a limited edition 1-tank (shown above).
It might be cool just to check out all the hullabaloo. I'll be around today actually taking a break from school work and doing something fun for once so maybe join me?

Have a good day everyone~

Food, Food, Food

Made possible by the new Starbucks in my cafeteria! However, I don't drink coffee, so this is just tea.

Yogurt is a girl's best friend. So are apples. And clementines. And dried figs.

Steamed kabocha pumpkin and partially eaten dried persimmon.

Mini clementines atop my textiles textbook!

Whole Foods dinner: Steamed kale, grape tomatoes, noodles, chicken parmesan, cucumbers, tofu.

Pomme frites! With the new wild mushroom sauce. Good stuff.

German Ritter Sports! Got these at economy candy. First time having them, and yay, I like them. They shall go excellently with my leftover dried figs . . .

Valentine's Day made better with Jacques Torres. Of course my family got to it first (luckily there is still some left over)! Also including chocolate covered almonds and orange peels (second pic).

So I wasn't on the computer for a little while . . .

I had totally forgotten to update! Okay, I didn't forget. It was in the back of my mind. But what do you do when you're out most of the weekend?

Well, I promised a small review of that restaurant my friend and I ended up going to last time, so here it is!

Yes, I did have my friend just stand in front of the restaurant for that first pic.

Anyway, we went to Olive Tree Cafe! It's this restaurant/bar (?) joint near West 4th. I believe there is a downstairs (which is the bar?) but upstairs happened to be where we sat to eat.
Okay, so the reason we came here was because my friend had suggested it a really cool place. And I mean, how can it not be if you can DRAW ON THE TABLES WITH CHALK?? Image 3 are the awesome doodles we both did.
We split an order of falafels (the falafel plate, not sandwich), and we each got separate drinks. I got "Rainforest Mate" tea.

Verdict: The falafels were good. They were a good size and fried well so it was crispy enough on the outside but mushy enough on the inside. The other thing I liked was that you could build your own sandwich with the platter.
The tea was nothing special. Actually, it tasted like mint gum (my friend said double mint). I drank it anyway because it was chilly that day, but I'm not a huge fan of the tea.

The service was okay. Not exceptional or anything, but the guy was nice and answered our questions.

The pricing is all moderate. Based on a price to portion ratio, I think the prices are set pretty well. Since this was my first time and I never ordered anything else, I'm not a hundred percent sure if it applies to everything on the menu. But I thought it was okay.

Sadly, this is all I could do today. My computer is lagging like crazy right now, so any further updates will have to come another time. Bye everyone!

Extras from Tuesday

On Tuesday, my friend Melissa and I decided to go watch Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, eat, and take photos. The photos ended up being in a Soho store my mom works at, except we used their bathroom.

Before those pictures are revealed, here is my cupcake of wonders:

S'mores cupcake from Crumbs!
Every time I go to Crumbs, I try to get a flavor I never had before. Nothing has disappointed me yet! This one had a marshmallow frosting/fluff center.
After getting it though, I saw the Blueberry Cobbler which I also never tried and I wish I had gotten that because I see it less. Ah well . . .

Now on to the bathroom pictures . . .

To have total creative license over how I present my pictures, I touched them up and collaged them together.

Wheeeeeeee, stars and purple~
My friend told me it looked like some indies Japanese cd cover. Haha, it actually does. And I have a bob that was popular back then in 90's Japan.

Fixing hair in the mirror. I love kinda out of focus blurry shots.

My make-up mixed with Melissa's. There's a lot in my little Hello Kitty make-up bag, but I still have more at home.

Finally, trying to pull a Michael Jackson (except with fishy lips and robot arms!).

Melissa also got me some Chai!

I had some yesterday and it's SO GOOD. I used hot milk, but I'm sure it'd taste good with hot water too. I wish I had a steamer to steam my own milk because that would be the best thing ever! Maybe I should become friends with that guy at Guy and Gallard since I do eat there often on school days . . .

We ended up eating dinner together too, but that will be saved for another post with more pictures! Toodles all!

I forgot my mouse was working . . .

I put the darn little whatsahoozit in my laptop so my mouse would work and I totally forgot so I was manually using the little touch pad with my finger. Wow, I wasted time . . .

I was drinking some Chai tea (my main staple) and eating a granola bar this morning when I remembered I have to figure out who that political figure is that my professor took a picture with. Which is FAIL because I don't remember and I should remember and now I feel stupid.

What I want to know though is WHO IS MY PROFESSOR REALLY?
Because apparently, 2 weeks ago, he attended some event to meet the Preseident of the Dominican Republic??? WHAT???
And last night, he was all "Class will end really early today because I have to go to NBC to comment on the mayoral election." WHO ARE YOU?

I swear, he's a mystery that one . . .

So today I was reading some product reviews on Sephora and came across a complaint about Sephora eyeshadow because it wasn' as rich as they wanted it to be. Well, putting the Sephora name aside, I cannot tell you how many times I've encountered eye shadow that just wasn't cutting it. So here I shall give you a great tip!

You will need:

-A fail eyeshadow (preferrably cheap or one you don't care too much about)
-Lip balm (again, get a cheap one or one you already have)
-A clean blade
-Some thing to mix in (like a tiny bowl or container)
-Popsicle stick, or Q-tip

Okay, take your eyeshadow and crack it and put into your bowl. Then take your blade and cut some chunks of the lip balm into it. Take your Q-tip or popsicle stick and smash the two together. And viola! You have cream eyeshadow. This should (to my knowledge), make it richer and denser in color when applying. Plus, you won't need primer because it sticks!

Bergdorf Goodman and random things

I decided to stop avoiding it because eventually (like NOW) I would come to realize that Bergdorf Goodman hosts awesome events, and that I would have to sign up to their mailing list. Luckily I managed to enter their sweepstakes while doing so! All ends well.

I have been up to the following:

- Drawing on black mounting boards with silver and gold pens!
- Drinking graham cracker coffee (I bought it b/c it seemed unique) and taking 3 hours to finish it (I am not a coffee person normally)
- BUYING CHAI FINALLY YES (and drinking it now)
- Using many parenthesis
- Trader Joe (well, when do I ever not?)
- Seeing Chloe Dao from Project Runway season 2 on the street near FIT. But me being me, I was late again and she seemed to be walking somewhere with someone, so I just passed by.
- Plotting Halloween with my friend AND looking at tickets to Rooney at Webster Hall in December. And since the show I was going to got cancelled (it was a Japanese singer named Miyavi), I may go to this one . . .

Oh, and I got some nice things in the mail. I shall take pictures for next time!

I know I just posted!

I forgot to mention a few things that I'm so excited about that I'm ready to jizz my pants for. To make things real quick, read these next few points as if you were going to die if you couldn't finish reading them in 3 minutes. GO!

- Coco Chanel movie . . . gonna see . . . real soon . . . when plans are decided. The excitement is killing me!!! Must see--------------!

- The chai at Guy and Gallards makes me giddy inside. I need more chai. CHAI CHAI CHAI
It's been an obsession, but I forgot about it because I didn't have any in the house. But if there's anything I order when I go to a coffee/tea joint is Chai.

- I'm going to Brooklyn Boulders (just don't know when yet)! AND I FOUND OUT THERE'S A STUDENT DISCOUNT. It's $16 instead of $20 and that's [beeping] AWESOME. And for all you haters that say it's only $4, that's like a nice little Vietnamese Sandwich right there. Or some fro-yo. Or some rhinstones to stick on fake whipped cream. Yeah, that's right.

- [added] JPDJ9T04SNKLNLWPO3JROINGLNDKLNL
Um, so, I'm slow in this, but Louis Vuitton S/S 2010 Fashion Show Live Streaming on October 7th, 8:30 a.m. on facebook! And I have no school on Wednesdays. I think that was the best decision of my life making Wednesday free because everything is always on Wednesday. I am pretty much so there.

Curiouser and curiouser . . .

Was not my thought when I sat down at Alice's Tea Cup, Chapter 2, located on the corner of 64th and Lexington Avenue (going down). But that's probably because I was there before.

Yesterday I made my way over there to meet with a bunch of lolita friends (lolita being the Japanese street fashion and friends being the awesome people of whom like said fashion). One of them were leaving New York and we decided it only made sense to meet up and eat and mingle. So Alice's seemed to be the right choice because, who doesn't like tea??

In order from the left, Alice's BLT with mixed greens, a pumpkin scone, and birthday tea.

If happiness could come in the form of a sandwich, it would probably be that BLT. I swear, one of the many things disabling me from turning vegetarian is bacon. AND THAT SANDWICH HAD A LOT OF IT. With maybe a slither of lettuce and a few tomatoes. The rest was blue cheese spread. And I crave salt like a pregnant woman well into her 6th month, so that sandwich pretty much made for the bliss of becoming a mother of a food baby.

The pumpkin scone I've had before and it's their best scone in my opinion, but I split it with my friend's mixed berry scone and enjoyed the latter as well. A nice little tip: they have a $10 minimum on weekends, so order a sandwich and have your friend order Alice's Tea that comes with 2 scones. That's what my friend and I did, and I gave her 1/2 a sandwich and she gave me a scone, and we split the tea. Best deal ever.

Lastly, since I have an unhealthy relationship with tea, I had to have tea. The birthday tea wasn't anything too special (I'm not THAT big on fruit teas), but it hit the right spot.

The day continued like this: Dylan's Candy Bar, Crumbs, Honey and Tea (a store in Grand Central: the man working there with the glasses is nice and cute and when a man knows his teas, well, you know the rest), Book Off, and Kinokuniya.

I got super excited about the Barbie display at Dylans only to find out chocolate shaped Barbie's pumps should not be that expensive. But alas, Barbie is too much fabulosity money can't handle her.

The day ended with tired striped legs, a gaping face at the man sitting 2 seats away with his brand new Gucchi bag and Coach sneakers (both of which I found unattractive), and good memories (the part that really matters, no?)
