Inspiration of the Day

Actually, it's a lie since Camilla Belle is one of my inspirations daily, but then again, I also have many.

I mean, who else is as classy as her and looks good in EVERYTHING? Especially Mcqueen's recent collection, which I didn't think could be pulled off by many (still don't). But wow, she definitely proved me wrong.


I am currently being antisocial and staying at home a lot. This being because I need to organize a few things . . . especially my sleeping schedule.

I am going to vow for the rest of the month, I WILL NOT BUY CLOTHES. The only exception I am making is IF I find a pair of lace up boots, because my current pair has been broken for a year or so now and it's not working for the cold weather . . .


Now, can I break the reality bubble for a sec and mention the earthquake in Haiti? I know I don't own a current events blog, but it's been a few days now since it's happened and it just seems that it needs to be touched upon.
I am really glad that so many charities and donation boxes are popping up. I was watching the news, and recently there has been controversies on certain charities that apparently they're spending the money for Haiti on other things. It's been denied, but I really hope that it won't happen in the future. Remember in Sex and the City when Samantha was trying to make a charity for a dead fashion designer and she started it so she could get contacts of everyone in NY's social circle? And in the end, nobody helped her because she made out with one guy who had a wife who pretty much had every connection to every place in NY?
That was just to connect, but the real point is, if you're going to do a good deed, do it with a good intention. And I also believe that even if you can't directly help out with the earthquake, spreading the word or praying also helps.

Mourning the losses.

As some may know (most may know), Joe Biden's mother, Jean Biden, died on Friday, at the age of 92. The funeral was held yesterday.

I for one would love to live that long, so in that respect, I'm glad she was there to support him through most of his life.

(She's so cute!)

Rest in peace.


I'm also going to mourn the loss of jobs at Karl Lagerfeld (although um, pretty much everywhere else).

Then I'm mourning the loss of these:

-Innocence
-Good things in my size at the Topshop Soho sale (Buy One Get One Free. Best be checking it out before it's all gone . . . )
-Cherry Preserve in my fridge and local super market
-Time before the sun goes down
-Will to eat more salad after eating them straight on for the past few days (and still having more mixed greens in the fridge)

Politics borderline Fashion

Lets take a step back from my usual daily happenings and talk about some things I really really enjoy.

I really enjoy fashion, food, brushing my teeth, eating blueberry bagels, reading up on useless facts, singing into a bottle of lotion (not a brush mind you), making bad jokes, oh, and uhhhh, politics.

I REALLY enjoy politics. I enjoy talking about politics. And I love to fangirl about politicians. It's just one of those things.

But lets take a gander at a possible reason why. Well, apart from the fact that we as people should to some extent know what's going on around us, a part of me thinks that learning politics is like observing human nature in some of it's purest form (that being said by observing both the politicians and the people's reactions). And I'm not going to lie when I say I like reading up on the cattiness and the superficiality along with the wonders and splendors of those people.

But hey, sound familiar? Fashion's not that far off when you discuss the words "superficial" and "catty". Obviously there are many other words that come into play when describing the two, but listing everything would require a much clearer head, one of which I do not have due to late night texting. Point is, both involve people, an ideal world and the real world, and blunders. What is not to like about both?


Lets go back to politics however. So we've been honing in on Michelle Obama. We've been obsessing over what she's been wearing every time she steps out the door. And what's wrong with that? She looks FABULOUS and she's not wearing power suits on every occassion. But we really do forget some other fabulous women closely linked to the white house . . .

How about Jill Biden?

Seriously, ever since this get-up (with what my friend calls kinky boots), I decided she is just one hott mama. Not to mention her husband Joe pretty much tickles my funny bone half the time.

Seriously, stop.

I said stop . . .

Okay, don't.

As far as styling herself goes, she used to be a small time model if I remember correctly (apparently Biden saw her face somewhere and developed a crush). So I'd say she's not completely outta the loop.


Anyway, that seems to be all for now. Now to plan my Thanksgiving weekend . . .

Michael Kor-ing this morning . . .

I think everyone should take the name of a designer and just make it into a verb. Life would be more fun that way if you could tell people to stop Rodarte-ing and La-Renta-ing.

I think the same works with Politicians . . . there are so many instances that I wished Ron Paul was a verb. And speaking of Ron Paul, just finished watching an interview of his on youtube, basically saying he was right about predicting that the economy would become bad, and that the Federal Reserve should be gone because it's harming people more than helping them.

He also talks a lot about Obama and the decisions he's making and how it's not really going to work (i.e. social medicine). I personally love watching these kind of interviews (and curse my political junkie friends who converted me last year), so if you're interested, check it out!

Well, going back to my title, this morning I was up and decided to watch the live showing of Michael Kors' fashion show on his website.
I'm not a huge fan of Michael Kors and I don't really find his things that attractive personally, but I think it's because he's catering to a much older sophisticated woman, who likes clean cuts, lines, and toned down colors. That and on some of his shoes, the bottom looks like ridged potato chips. But I can appreciate the audience that buys his stuff, and I think it's consistent what he's doing; so in that sense, I do respect him greatly.

That being said, his ss2010 collection was actually pretty nice. There were definitely a few pieces I really liked (usually the draped tops or the structured skirts), and it was quite sexy (the sexy that's not like "look at me" but more like "I know I am. So what?") His menswear that came down the runway with the womenswear was a little less exciting, and some of it I didn't like too much. Overall though, pretty collection.
