Lets celebrate with cake!

I being a dork did go and make a banner for this joyous occasion.
And of course, to get the point through that this is a fashion AND food blog, I chose a picture of Heidi Klum with a lollipop (of course, of course)

And what is a celebration without cake?

Well, I happened upon this article from 2 months ago and since I never saw this until now and maybe some of you here haven't, I figured what the hay, lets post it up!

Well, Motion Media magazine FLY16x9 did this movie for the MOMA MiXX benefit event (months ago), and a shorter version is up on their website: http://www.fly16x9.com/#

There is a Fashion Page and an Art Page. To watch "Cake", click Fashion.
I never really thought watching a model wear AF Vandevorst and eat cake would be so entertaining but the way it's shot is actually pretty cool. The old timey music (which may also be mistaken as elevator music), the brown and grey hues, the fact that most of the time you can only see half of the model's face, and how she struggles to finish the cake all kind of kept me interested. The cake looks delicious but I have to hand it to her for eating so much of it (even I can't do that).
I also watched Platonic Crush which is for Christian Dior. I love it when fashion and art is combined, so if you do too, check it out!

チャオ!元気?

Ciao! How are you? <------What I wrote in the title

Yesterday I wrote I wake up on opposite sides of the bed. I really do wake up with my feet under my pillow. I think this is a sign I need to find ways to sleep better if I'm moving around in the middle of the night.

Anyway, this morning I ate this!

Plain yogurt, banana, Fuji apple, pear, and chunks of energy! I want to say this is chocolate almond but I'm probably wrong. Either way, it had chocolate in it.
Yesterday I stocked up, and now I only have 5. I . . . need to learn self control.

On Monday, I hung out with my friend Christina by selling clothes at Beacon's Closet and then going to Soho to shop.

Everyone should know my love for Anna Sui by now, but I try not to go to the shop TOO often because I always end up buying something. Well, Christina and I had time to kill so of course, I said "Let's Go!" 10 minutes later, I come out with a fukubukuro (lucky pack, or what they labeled as mystery pack). The packs are basically bags/boxes filled with stuff worth more than what you pay but the catch is, you have no idea what's in them.

There are 4 different kinds at the Anna Sui in Soho:
1. $100 pack - comes with a cool sequined tote bag, jewelry box, make-up (I believe they said the lip gloss kit and some eye shadow?), brushes, etc.
2. $75 pack - jewelry box, make-up (lip stick, eye stuff?)
3. $45 pack - Clutch, lip stick, eye shadow
4. $35 pack - eye shadow and eye glitter

I got the $45 box (one of the shop girls told me she thought that was most worth it in terms of usage).

Très bon!
I am definitely liking my pack. Mainly because I've been wanting lip stick from Anna Sui, and not only that but I got a cute color that's not overkill red or purple hue. The clutch and the eye color are also lovely and adorable. Since the eye color and the lip color together are around $40 retail, and I got a clutch, I say I like the deal. Some may not risk it because you don't know what you're getting, but if you generally like Anna Sui, it'll be fun to get and see what you got.
Also, this $45 is the only one with the black and purple box, and IT IS THE BEST BOX EVER. I know that sounds strange but this box is lined with black velvet! And it's so roomy that I'm putting in a bunch of my other Anna Sui things. It's wonderful!

I wonder if you guys also bought nice things recently? Happy shopping!

*EDIT: I changed the banner by the way! I was bored again with the last banner, so I decided to make this one more simple and chic. Hope you like!

Marc and Lorenzo, Emma Watson, and Amazon

I wake up every morning sleeping in a different direction than what I started out with.

Why hello, this is Aya.

Several things made me happy today.

1. Marc and Lorenzo's engagement party!
Okay, so rumors had it they got married but those rumors were broken by a source close to the couple who says they're still engaged. BUT WHO CARES WHEN THE CAKE IS BASED OFF OF DAISY AND A-TOP IT IS A SHIRTLESS MARC AND TUXED LO LOOKING HAPPY?
And anyone who knows me knows I love the scent Daisy, so yeah, pretty giddy.
Picture found right HERE

2. THE BURBERRY CAMPAIGN (I gotta stop being obnoxious with my caps)

So much youth in one ad campaign! And yet, how they manage to be such lovely adults, I do not know. I just thought it was a British thing . . .
Well, Emma Watson has done it again (you know, the look flawless and windblown in a major ad campaign thing). And this time alongside her brother Alex Watson (in picture above). The campaign also features George Craig, Matt Gilmour, and Max Hurd.

3. Amazon surfing. I believe I have never done this before (I'll usually look on ebay), but I gotta say Amazon has pretty much everything. I'm pretty sure if I never wanted to step out of my house, I could rely on Amazon for everything.
What got me really excited though was Dolly Girl's Bonjour L'Amour by Anna Sui. Seriously, you know how I said Daisy is one of my favs? Well, this one is THE ONE. Actually, to be more precise, the one that got away.
Long story short, when it released, I went crazy. Loved it, wanted it. Kept going to the store to check it out. I was also broke severely and was saving money for it. Well, I thought I could take my time (and so I did). Bad choice. REALLY bad choice. When I finally had enough money for it, it was gone and I was devastated. Since then, I've been keeping my eyes peeled for it.
Well, it was on Strawberry Net for a while but I never bought perfume over the internet and had to do a lot of thinking. Now though, I might as well buy it off Amazon because I may be getting a gift card and Amazon is known for being amazing all around. Which means I may finally be getting my dream fragrance!

So, if I end up doing so, I'll let ya guys know. TTFN - Tata for now!

What I hate . . .

1. The MTA for screwing me over every time. Raising the prices? F train ALWAYS under construction on the weekends? I mean, seriously, if the MTA were a person, I'd shove them in a bag and send them to Australia.

2. When my internet stops responding.

3. Speaking of Australia, this:

Jennifer Hawkins unretouched on the cover of Marie Claire!

Well, the naked thing is nothing new, but from this, we're apparently supposed to see all her flaws. Except that any flaw she may have is probably close to nothing, and that her perfectly done up hair and face doesn't exactly relate to the average person who doesn't have access to awesome make-up artists.
I see why they would use someone known vs. an unknown average woman because yes, this will sell better. But if this is for connecting to the general public by not retouching the photo, I believe there were other alternatives.

4. Being late to a destination 5 minutes away. -sigh-

New Years, Tea, Roses, Flushing, and Good Company. . .

Hey everybody! So right now I'm feeling a bit nauseous from the chocolate I just ate. M&Ms . . . I like them but don't eat them often (or many other generic chocolate bars), so I don't think my stomach is quite used to it. Ahh well, I'll get over it.

I forgot to post some food from New Years.

Mochi and Osechi things. Osechi is kinda what Japanese families eat on New Years. It's usually much more extravagant and has more things, but we had the mochi as ozouni (mochi in a soup with vegetables) so we didn't want any more for lunch.
What really made me laugh is that my mom dressed the osechi plate first and it was a bit messy, but then my dad the sushi chef secretly fixed it while she wasn't looking. The picture is after it got fixed.

Dinner consisted of octopus, squid, sea urchin, and fish soup (oh my god, this seafood trend . . . ) I don't have pictures though [tears]

Then on Saturday, my friends and I hung out in Flushing!

This is me in Flushing Mall. Why yes mama, I am wearing my wig again! I'm also wearing:
-Knit hat from my friend in Sweden
-Fake glasses
-Gucchi flask necklace
-White H&M Knit Sweater dress (which I tucked into my shorts)
-Random pair of shorts
-Anna Sui tights
-Payless boots
-Sonia Rykiel x H&M collab tote bag

After much fun around the mall and then walking around other stores, we all headed to Queens Crossing to get something to eat!

We went to Ajisen Ramen on the first floor. My two friends and I got the chicken curry rice. For the price (like $6.50), it's a nice portion. The taste is okay. It was more curry flavored chicken over rice than curry with chicken in it over rice (if that makes sense). I also like my things spicy so it was okay on my tongue, but my friends found it really spicy after a while.
Really glad I didn't try the ramen though because I just skimmed reviews and apparently it's not good.

We then proceeded to go take purikura.

A little sampler for ya. D'awwwwww, good times.

After decorating and splitting the sheet of glittery photo goodness, we went back to Queens Crossing to try some tea at Rose House!

The first picture is what it look likes from the outside (I being a creeper actually stood in front of the door and took a whiff earlier that day to see if it actually smelled of roses . . . it did).
So the decor is nice and easy on the eyes. There are roses and paintings everywhere.
We were seated in the back area near the VIP room. We were originally there to just have a little cup of tea and go, but they have a rule that every person needs to order at least one thing, so we decided on 2 plates of Rose Cookies and Rose Milk Tea.
The cookies were buttery vanilla cookies. Not much rose flavor, but I'm not complaining. The tea took a good while to come (I'm guessing they steeped roses or something but it took quite a while for one pot of tea), but when it came, boy was I happy! It was pretty much this:
If Anna Sui's nail polish suddenly had a milky color and became edible, that would be it. I swear on my life drinking it was like drinking the smell coming from Anna's cosmetics. It was sweet, but so warming and I love milk tea. We shared a pot and each had about 2 cups and a quarter or so (imagine drinking it by yourself!) I was thoroughly pleased.
We learned that they only take card for $20+ (good to know!) but luckily I had cash for maybe the first time in a long time. I think next time (yes, there shall be a next time), I'll try another different tea.

Excuse my freakishly long post. I'll see y'all again later!

Happy New Years everyone!

Hey everyone! It's a new year! 2010! And a new decade. I hope the next decade is great because I'm pretty sure at this point, the past 10 years cannot be topped. Actually, the past year in general pretty much blew my mind. So let's see how 2010 compares to 2009 (I'm so going to need time getting used to writing 2010 on all my papers)

I finished typing up lovely resolutions. My main one is to be a better person. And then I think everything will follow from there. That, and to stop procrastinating so much.

So I have pictures from my lovely spring cleaning episode. It's quite hilarious actually . . .

Before:

What's funny is that that's my desk halfway through the cleaning process. Yes, it was worse before (do you see a trend? First locker, now room . . . )

After:

Okay, so minus the fact that I still need to vaccuum and stuff, I'd say BIG change. 3 cheers for cleaning!

This is a bonus picture of . . . yesterday? It started to snow so of course, I snapped the picture. Who knows how many more snow days we'll have in the future?

After it stopped snowing, I went out real quick and walked the streets of Soho. I stopped by Sephora and decided to get this Clinique brow pencil after reading the good reviews on the website. Okay, so there was one deep brown left (thank god). Sadly, that's the darkest shade because apparently they stopped making the "soft black". I'm fine with it because my hair is slightly browner in the light/my wigs are also slightly brown/I read somewhere eyebrows should be a slightly lighter color than the hair anyway. I have yet to try it but I bought it because I'm a longtime user of Clinique products and I find them long lasting and really effective, and they don't over decorate themselves. If anything, I'll write up a small review another time.

Anyway, New Years foodie pictures will come next time! Ciao guys!
